The Avalanche 14U squad took the title Sunday evening at the Runs-N-Roses tournament in Bend. Coming in as the #2 seed from bracket play, the Avalanche had to advance through the quarter-final and semi-final defeating the Corbett Cardinals and the Hub City Softball team to meet the Salem Keizer Stars (Laukkanen) in the title game. The Avalanche pulled off the win with a run-rule decision after 4 innings with a 17-5 score.
The 14U finished the tournament with 63 runs, 62 hits, 23 doubles, 1 triple and 2 out of the park home runs by Emma Sullivan. Pitchers Shyla Nunes, Makaila Kameyama, and Mackenzie Gerlach combined for 20 Strikeouts over 26 innings pitched.
The 12U team ended playing late, as well, as they advanced through the quarter-finals, defeating regional rivals Crook County FP, and then barely missing a spot in the championship final, being overtaken by 1 run against the eventual champs Vancouver Patriots. Overall, the 12U squad finished in 4th place for the tournament.
Great job team! Go Avalanche!
