The Avalanche 14U squad roared through the first three games, winning handily over their first two games and playing a tough, but oh so satisfying, game for the win against the Oregon Titans.
The 3-1 victory began with a pitchers duel through three innings coming into the 4th still at 0-0. The Avalanche would strike first in the top of the 4th with heads up base running by #33 Madison G, scoring from third base on a passed ball. The Titans would strike back with a single run in the bottom of the 4th to tie it up 1-1. It would be until the top of the 6th that an RBI double by Lena Z would send #33 Madison in again for a second run. In the top of the 7th, #2 Taylar D would score on a passed ball with two outs on the offense bringing the score to 3-1. The defense would step up big in the bottom of the 7th with #35 Delaney V recording the last two outs with force plays at second base, giving the COFP girls the win.
The Avalanche advanced to the Quarter finals dropping to the eventual 2nd place finisher Portland Rainbows and the third place finisher the Corvallis Lady Knights. The final tally would put the Avalanche in 5th place position (out of 29 teams) in State.
We’re so proud of our girls! Congratulations Avalanche!
