The Avalanche 14U squad struck quickly and decisively Saturday afternoon at the Tormaschy Memorial Tournament in Selah, Washington. Hot bats and strong pitching overwhelmed the INW Edge, ending in a 14-4 decision for the Avalanche.
The second game of the day against the EV Red Hawks was different story. In a back and forth affair, the pitchers from both teams would hold the score tied at 2-2 through 5 innings of play. It was the top of the 6th inning, sitting on two outs and bases loaded that a steal home and run by #35 Delaney V off of a bunt single would decide the game for the Avalanche 4-2. The Red Hawks could not overcome the pitching of #4 Alli P and the Avalanche defense in the bottom of the 6th.
The Avalanche would get an early lead against the Monarch Crushers in the third and final game of the Saturday pool, winning 6-3 in 6 innings. The result would place the Avalanche directly into the semi-final of the Gold bracket for Sunday play.
Sunday morning play pitted the Rampage Steele against the Avalanche. The Rampage struck early and created a deficit that the Avalanche, try as they might, could not overcome.
As always, we are proud of these girls and coaches for the hard work everyone is putting in! Great job Avalanche!
