After a disappointing rain-out for our 12U season opener on April 8th-9th, we now call the NAFA Earth Day Tournament as our introduction to the valley. As of this post 20 12U teams are participating with pool play scheduled for Saturday in order to seed the brackets for Sunday. Regardless of how the Avalanche finish in Saturday’s pool play, expect a morning game to start things off on Sunday. See the tournament schedule here.
For those parents that haven’t been to Newberg before, there are two separate facilities that are used: Crater Softball Complex at 203 Foothills Drive (aka Darnell Wright Softball Complex) and Jaquith Park (Softball/Baseball complex) at 1400 Main Street. As of today, our first game on Saturday is scheduled to be at the Crater Complex, and the second games is over at Jaquith.
Each site has a concessions stand, bathrooms and aluminum risers for seating, but you’ll see most parents and fans bringing portable sports chairs.
Looking forward to seeing the girls play! If you can’t make it, follow us on the Game Changer app for live updates of the game.
